Affiliate Funds

Affiliate funds of the Community Foundation of Lorain County are endowed funds that operate under the Foundation’s umbrella but maintain their own distinct missions, histories, and grantmaking priorities. These funds were created to address specific community needs and often focus on particular populations or causes. While the Foundation provides administrative support and investment management, each affiliate fund has its own advisory committee that guides its grant cycles and philanthropic initiatives, ensuring that resources are directed toward programs that align with its unique purpose.


African American Community Fund

Focus: Promoting self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and improving quality of life for African Americans in Lorain County.
Key Initiatives: Provides grants for education, health, race relations, and community development; supports scholarships and programs addressing social and economic challenges.


Hispanic Fund

Focus: Improving and promoting socioeconomic and educational opportunities within the Hispanic community.
Key Initiatives: Provides grants for neighborhood revitalization, public safety, education, and collaborative solutions to social issues; funds scholarships for Hispanic students in Lorain County schools.


Women’s Fund

Focus: Empowering women and children in Lorain County through education, grantmaking, and philanthropy.
Key Initiatives: Supports programs addressing underemployment, domestic abuse, sexual assault, and single parenting; offers scholarships for female-identifying students; runs projects like Change the Cycle to combat period poverty.


Youth Fund

Focus: Amplifying youth voices and fostering leadership through philanthropy.
Key Initiatives: Established in 1998, it engages high school students in grantmaking, community needs assessment, and advocacy; funds projects aligned with annual themes such as sustainability and mental health.
