Year End Giving

Connect With Causes That Matter

By donating to the Community Foundation’s existing Community Responsive Fund, Touch the Future, donors can help to ensure a legacy that will grow and change as the community does. Less than 10% of the Community Foundation assets are unrestricted, which makes Touch the Future Fund extremely important in helping to respond to support gaps in community needs or other emergent issues.

In recent years, proceeds from our Touch the Future Fund have supported organizations such as:

  • Youth Challenge to continue adapted programs for kids with physical disabilities.
  • Oberlin Community Land Trust to create perpetually affordable housing.
  • Primary Purpose Center to support their 60-day Supportive Recovery Housing program.
  • National Inventors Hall of Fame to fund Camp Invention STEAM Programs in Lorain County.

What If I Want to Create a Fund?

The end of the year is a great time to start any of the following Funds:

  • Designated Fund – For donors who want to create lasting support for one or more of their favorite non-profits.
  • Scholarship Fund – For donors who would like to create opportunities for Lorain County graduates to attend or remain in college (or other post-secondary education programs).
  • Donor Advised Fund – For donors who want the convenience of making a single charitable gift but determine later what non-profits you want to support. Donors may also participate in our Community Grant cycles.
  • Field of Interest Fund – For donors who have a passion for a certain area of interest (arts, youth, mental health) or location but do not have a particular affinity for a specific non-profit. These funds support our Community Grant cycles.
  • Community Responsive Fund – For donors who believe in providing Community Foundation with the most flexibility possible to address current and emergent needs in the community. These funds support our Community Grant cycles.

You can grow your fund for up to five years by making small gifts over time, getting donations from friends and family, or asking your employer about charitable matching.
