Youth Fund Service Learning Grants

An Affiliate Fund of the Community Foundation of Lorain County

These Service Learning grants are made possible through the Youth Fund of the Community Foundation of Lorain County. The Youth Fund (YF) was begun in 1998 to encourage philanthropy among young people. The YF Advisory Board of students, grades 8-12, represents the diverse population of Lorain County and works with foundation staff to learn about community resources and how youth can make a difference.

Service Learning Grants are available to Lorain County teachers grades K-12. Grants will be awarded for Service Learning projects to be completed in the current academic year, January – June.“Service Learning” links community service (e.g. collecting food for the needy) to curriculum areas (e.g. developing math skills, studying nutritional standards, researching social problems, and the impact of poverty).

The Youth Fund Advisory Board has identified the following issues as their preferred focus for funding (though other requests will be considered):

  • Mental Health
  • Healthy Life Choices
  • Career readiness eg resume-writing, interviewing, soft skills

The deadline to apply is November 1.
