March 25′ CEO Blog
“Where flowers bloom so does hope.”
– Lady Bird Johnson
Spring is finally here, and I could not be more excited! The signs of the season are beginning to blossom all around us. One of the highlights of my morning drive is passing Thome Farms, where I can witness the transformation of winter’s quiet stillness to the vibrant renewal of spring. I hope you are getting outside and enjoying our longer, sunnier days.
What are your favorite spring traditions? For sports fans, there’s plenty of buzz around spring training and March Madness. Personally, I love spring cleaning and bringing people together for community clean-up projects—whether through Rotary, one of the Main Streets or another local effort. If your group has a volunteer opportunity, be sure to share it on LorainCounty.com through Volunteer Connect with Leadership Lorain County.
Spring at the Community Foundation also means the start of Connect to a Cause season. We have been busy meeting with local non-profits, and there is still time to join us. Here are some options to get involved:
- Non-profits: Registration for participation is open until March 31st.
- New Participants: If you are joining for the first time, you will need to establish an endowment fund by May 9, 2025.
- Businesses: We are looking for additional Business Champions to support this impactful day—visit our website for details. Please reach out to Colleen Walts, our Development Officer cwalts@peoplewhocare.org.
We hosted our Donor Advised Fund Luncheon at the beautiful Cascade Park, where we heard from Lorain County Free Clinic and Place to Recover (P2R). These incredible non-profits have so much wisdom and experience to share, and we appreciated the opportunity to learn from them alongside all of you.
We always welcome your questions, feedback, and ideas. Whether it’s through Neighbor Nights, a coffee chat or a visit to our office, we are here for you. We are YOUR Community Foundation.
Be well,
Cindy
