As we all bask in the warmth and longer days of summer, we at the Community Foundation hope you are finding time to relax and enjoy all the season has to offer. Whether you are savoring a good book in the shade, embarking on exciting travels and adventures, or simply spending quality moments with loved ones, summer is the perfect time to recharge and create cherished memories. Be sure to take the opportunity to explore all that Lorain County has to offer during this beautiful season.
On June 28th we celebrated our incredible scholarship recipients and their families. It was a joy-filled event that served as a stark reminder of how important scholarships are to the next chapter for our Lorain County students. A key component of our strategic plan is reimagining a fresh approach to our scholarship process, aiming to make it more inclusive, accessible and aligned with the diverse needs of students. These changes are both internal through our competitive process and county-wide by working with our community partners. This reimagined process seeks to support a wider range of students, fostering educational opportunities and empowering future leaders from all backgrounds within the broader Lorain County community. We are excited to review our findings and start the next scholarship process in the 4th quarter. Thanks to a generous donor, we have also received the inaugural donation to our new Lorain County Scholars Fund, a pass-through fund designed to help supplement our existing scholarship funds.
It is hard to believe that our community-wide day of giving, Connect to a Cause, is just two months away. This annual initiative is an incredible way to support Lorain County non-profits. We are thrilled to have a record number of 95 organizations participating in this year’s event. There is still an opportunity for businesses to join us as Business Champions. We would love to have you join us.
