Four grants totaling $5,629 were awarded to Huron County non-profit organizations in October.

The fall cycle of grants included a $1,163 grant to Norwalk Catholic Schools in support of a student leadership education program “The Leader in Me”; a $1,000 grant to Cancer Services of Erie County for an art program at Fisher-Titus Medical Center for area cancer patients; a $2,081 grant in support of an additional class for Artist Open Studios; and $1,385 to Bellevue Schools in support of their Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program.

“The local advisory board is pleased that we are able to support such worthy programs in our area, and look forward to being able to offer more grants as the Fund grows,” said Denny Camp, Chair of the Advisory Board.

Since 1997, The Huron County Community Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 in support of projects and programs that benefit the residents of Huron County.  From programming grants to student scholarships, the endowment provides resources that would otherwise not be available to local non-profits and students.

The grant awards are made from earnings of the unrestricted endowment and field of interest portions of the Huron County Community Foundation. Applicants in the regular grant cycle must be local, 501(c)3 charitable organizations while the Mini-Grant cycle is designed for teacher and school projects.

The Huron County Community Foundation is an Affiliate Fund of the Community Foundation of Lorain County. The Community Foundation has a local volunteer board which oversees three annual grant cycles and decides upon grant awards. The Community Foundation provides back-office support and one local support staff person, Advancement Officer Michele Skinn.

Grant applications are available online at huroncountyCF.peoplewhocare.org for the next grants cycle in the spring of 2018.  The deadline for grant applications is February 15, 2018.  If you have questions, please contact Michele Skinn at 419-668-9858, ext. 1005 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
