The awards ranged in size from $1,500 to $75,000 including grant support to expand residential treatment services for women through The Key at The LCADA Way, support for frail seniors through Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services and the Lorain County Office on Aging, emergency needs through the Salvation Army in Elyria and Wellington, supporting City Fresh partnerships with Lorain Public Library and Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority, and care for animals at Friendship Animal Protective League. Awards were also made to RePlay for Kids, which trains students and volunteers to repair and modify toys and assistive devices for children with disabilities and new organizations such as Passages, Inc. which works with formerly incarcerated fathers on reunification, workforce development life skills, and self-sufficiency.
The application deadline for the 2019 grant awards is February 1, 2019. A training workshop is being offered on January 11, 2019, at the Elyria Public Library, West River Branch. It is free and open to the public. The target audience is board members, CEOs, executive directors, upper management, fundraising & development staff, grant proposal writers, and program directors and coordinators of non-profit organizations.
