In celebration of our 35th anniversary this year, the Community Foundation of Lorain County held a contest to give away $35,000 to endowment funds of three non-profit organizations and three schools held at the Community Foundation. The contest ran from May 1st through May 31st, 2015. Winners were announced at the Community Foundation’s Annual Meeting and via social media June 24th, 2015. The monetary gifts went to each respective endowment fund for these organizations.
The winners are:
Non-profit Category:
Main Street Amherst, first place and $10,000
Oberlin Community Services second place and $5,000
Blessing House third place and $2,500
School Category:
Clearview Local Schools, first place and $10,000
Lorain County JVS, second place and $5,000
Avon Lake City Schools, third place and $2,500
Twenty three school districts and over 80 non-profit groups in or serving Lorain County have endowment funds held at the Community Foundation. Organizational and school endowment funds help provide sustainable, permanent support for the organizations that they benefit.

Founded in 1980, the Community Foundation of Lorain County is made up of more than 570 endowed Funds valued at approximately $128 million dollars. Assets of the Funds are invested wisely and a percentage of those earnings provide $4.4 annually in grant support to non-profit organizations in Lorain County.
