We connect people who care with causes that matter

The Community Foundation of Lorain County is dedicated to enriching the lives of those living and working in Lorain County, Ohio.

Students and Scholarships

The Community Foundation awards annual scholarships for post high school education.  Our scholarships are based on field of study, merit, financial need, and community involvement.  Some scholarships have specific eligibility requirements, and you should read the descriptions carefully to see if you may apply.  Students eligible for renewals will be contacted via email in January.  If your scholarship is renewable, you must reapply each year.  Renewals are competitive and at the committee's discretion.  Decisions approved by the Community Foundation Board of Directors are rendered in May and are final.  Awards are paid to post-secondary accredited educational institutions, not to individuals or bookstores.

Go to our scholarship search page after December 15 to begin the application process.

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA or higher as required by specific scholarships.
  • Transcripts must be official.  Official transcripts can be obtained only from your College Bursar's Office/High School Guidance Office.
  • Financial information:  ALL applicants must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and submit their entire Student Aid Report (SAR).
