The Women’s Fund, an Affiliate Fund of the Community Foundation, announced that it awarded $18,167 in grants at the Leadercast-Women event at the New Russia Township Lodge, Oberlin, OH, on November 1, 2018.  Eleven grants were awarded that give support for women and children in Lorain County.

Katarina Levit, president of the Women’s Fund Advisory Board said, “The Women’s Fund is united around one mission, to ensure women and children in our communities have pathways to grow and reach their full potential.  Through grant funding and supporting opportunities like Leadercast Women, we are actively working to change inequities in funding and ensuring those pathways are accessible and remain open now and forever.”

Two grants awarded by the Women’s Fund are highlighted below followed by a list of all eleven grants.

A grant of $2,000 to the MetroHealth Foundation supports their Mother and Child Dependency Program, which helps Lorain County mothers and their newborns overcome the disease of opioid addiction through psychiatric care, addiction prevention education, and continuing care coordination.

A $1,500 grant to Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio provides camperships to school-age girls so they can experience Girl Scouts’ summer camp and outdoor social and educational activities.

The Women’s Fund was established as a permanent endowment to expand chances and choices for Lorain County women and children through financial and funding equity for projects that may not receive monies from traditional sources of funding.  It supports social, educational, and artistic projects by, for, and delivered to women and children to encourage the full participation of women and children in the community.  Since its inception in 1991, the Women’s Fund has invested over $175,000 in community grants for women and children in Lorain County.
