Happy May! What a special time of year for so many families. Families and communities come together to celebrate all manner of graduations, from kindergarten to middle school, high school, college and graduate school, all marked with ceremonies attended by loved ones. We gather as a community to commemorate end of school year transitions leading to work or career training, undergraduate or graduate degrees and into the world of “adulting.”
It is altogether appropriate that we come together as a community to celebrate all of these accomplishments. It is also important to reflect upon and give thanks for the generosity of our donors and members of our scholarship funds through which we are able to award 155 college or career readiness scholarships. We owe a special thanks to those community members who had the honor and privilege of reading nearly 1,000 scholarship applications. Reading those applications serves as a wonderful reminder of the personal challenges and opportunities so many of our Lorain County youth and students have overcome to take this next step.
We hope you will join in our celebration on Wednesday, June 19 as we take our Lorain County youth out to the ballpark to celebrate and enjoy a Crushers game. Our annual meeting this year will celebrate all things scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of so many, your Community Foundation has been awarding scholarships in collaboration with our area high schools, school endowments, and college and universities since 1980.
What better time of year to celebrate in their success. Reserve your ticket today.
We look forward to seeing you there!
