In Homer’s great epic poem “The Odyssey” we read about the wanderings of the hero Odysseus after the Trojan War. To provide for his son in his absence, Odysseus chose his wise and trusted friend Mentor. Mentor assumed the role of counselor, protector, and role model for Telemachus. Over the nearly 3,000 years since, “mentor” has become the description of a person who serves as a teacher, guardian, or someone who challenges and encourages. Probably all of us can name a special person who exerted a significant, positive influence in our life. The following League of Mentors comprises funds established to honor the wisdom, integrity, and personal investment of those very special and influential people.
Jeptha Carrell Fund Dick Colella Fund Al Hillegass Fund Jerry Janasko Fund Stanley G. Pijor Fund Billy S. Rowland Fund Bill Starbuck Fund Leo Weingarten Fund
Grants from these funds will continue to touch the future of our community FOREVER just like the influence of these mentors.
Contact the Community Foundation to make a contribution to honor any of these individuals or to establish a fund for your mentor!
