James C. Doughman began his career with Nordson Corporation in 1966, and in 1976 was promoted as Director of Public Affairs. “His full time job was to do whatever needed to be done in (Lorain) County and to promote and coordinate organizations and programs that were helpful to people,” said Eric Nord. Doughman passed away in December 1997, ending a long career of nurturing nonprofit organizations and fostering the development of partnership and leadership.
In 1998, the Jim Doughman Community Service Award Fund was established at the Community Foundation of Lorain County through the efforts of nine individuals (Fran Bostwick, Robert Bowman, Sam Dawson, James Doughman, Jr., Marilyn Jenne, Martha Pye, Eric Nord, Nancy Scott and Kevin Walsh), and supported by generous donations from many more contributors. The Fund provides for a biennial award to be presented for an outstanding individual for exceptional leadership in making a difference in the lives of those who live in Lorain County.
It is with great pleasure that the Community Foundation welcomes nominations for the 2013 Jim Doughman Community Service Award to be presented at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting on June 19, 2013.
