Home Donated to Foundation

A challenging situation led to a win for the community with the donation of a home in Elyria's St. Jude neighborhood.  Faced with liquidating his mother's estate, Robert Bechtel was in a quandry in what to do with his mother's home.  Mr. Bechtel resides in Cincinnati and trying to sell a home from a distance in today's market became a difficult task.  A family friend led Mr. Bechtel to the Community Foundation of Lorain County where our Advancement Team coordinated the donation of the home which was recently successfully auctioned.  Proceeds from the home will establish the Allen H. Bechtel and Mildred Smith Bechtel Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. Bechtel's parents.  The Fund, an Unrestricted Fund, will support a wide spectrum of projects that will support a variety of community needs both today and in the future.  We are grateful to Mr. Bechtel and his family for this generous contribution.

If you have a piece of property or other non-cash gift that you would like to use to establish a permanent legacy in this community, please contact Tim Carrion, Advancement Officer, at 440.984.7390.
