Great Grant - Bringing the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to Rural Schools

With school district budgets shrinking, there is less and less funding available for field trips, a valuable tool in exposing students to fascinating experiences outside of the classroom.  The Community Foundation has been pleased to partner with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History to bring this world-renowned facility and its programs to our students in Columbia, Firelands, Midview, and Wellington Schools.

From health and fitness to advanced anatomy, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History has taken its outreach programs in our schools, holding health fairs for second graders, lessons on nutrition, entomology, and human development to sixth graders, and presentations and demonstrations on the cardiovascular system to high school students.  These valuable lessons are made available by all of the generous donors who have created funds here at the Community Foundation. With a grant of $10,080, the Foundation was able to bring the fantastic resources of the Museum of Natural History to nearly 2,000 students in Lorain County school districts.
